Hi, I'm Perla.

I'm here to connect with people, to tell stories and to be creative. To me, a photograph holds a memory, tells a story, captures connection, a feeling and expression.

About my style of photographs: My style of work is inspired by light, color, place and emotion. I love photos that make you feel, capture special moments and supports someone in their self-expression. Thinking of what you want to document and why is important.

About me: I’m a first generation Xicana, daughter of Mexican immigrants, a descendent of the Purepecha tribe in Southern Mexico, and granddaughter of caretakers of the land. I was born by the ocean but the desert raised me and is my home. I’m a mother of four with my partner whom I’ve been married to for 13 years. We dedicate our lives to community by facilitating programs and services that support the healing of our people and the environment we live in. Our immediate and extended family is very important to us. As we’ve grown in life, we’ve learned to slow down. We’ve structured our lives to support our mental health and the creative, emotional and spiritual growth of our children and our inner children as well. I believe everyone has the right to healing and self-determination and use my photography to accompany people in their experiences.
